Thomas the Tank Engine Birthday cake

Thomas The Tank Engine!

and started this cake by following it....
Then I just went my own way with my own ideas as usual!
The tutorial was very easy to follow,
I just like fondant better it has a very sharp look to me.
I used a 12x18 sheet cake and one layer of an 8" round.
This was crumb iced and refrigerated for a couple hours.
I used fondant to cover the entire cake. The top pieces, the bell and whistle,
are made with rice Krispie treats and covered with fondant. Thomas' face is made with fondant. The wheels are cookies covered with fondant. The little signs are gum paste. I changed the #1 on the side of the engine to a #4 because the little boy was turning 4.
The board is covered with butter cream. Green, for the grass and then the tracks are brown sugar. I placed two little LED lights in the front of the train!
THE KIDS LOVE THAT EVERY TIME!

Baseball Wedding Cake

Baseball Wedding??
(YES, and an amazing one at that!!)
What a beautiful wedding she had! They were married on home plate at the, minor league, Colorado Springs Sky Sox Stadium! This photo was taken in the club house where they had their very classy reception! I feel so lucky to get to peek in on wonderful ideas and settings for weddings!
This cake was created by using baseball bats cut to become pillars between the tiers. Cake sizes: 6, 10, and 14. White and Chocolate cake with buttercream and white fondant.
The fondant was designed to look like baseballs. I used edible markers and
"stitched the lines " a three tier baseball cake!
The flowers are gumpaste calla lillies dressed up with silk tiny flowers. I loved making these flowers! I used color dust to shine and give some realness to each flower.
Thanks Crystal for letting me be part of your day! What fun!!

Winnie The Pooh and Friends Cake

Baby Shower cakes are always so much fun!! It is a 2 tier chocolate cake with buttercream icing. All the accessories were made with GUMPASTE, after letting them harden they were "glued" with piping gel onto white floral wire, then dried again. So, this must be done way in advance!

The little extra time you take really brings your cakes story to life!

Bridal Shower Cupcakes

All were to be white cake and white buttercream icing.
What more can I say about these except that they were yummy!!
Sometimes Simple is perfect, & I think this was one of those times
The hearts were purchased and stuck in top top (non-edible)
Thanks for the order Teri!
We had a huge snow storm that weekend & the shower never happened...
So, the cupcakes were eaten by family and many friends!!

Rubber Ducky Baby Shower Cake

Well, this cake didn't get too many photos. I am hoping to get a better one from others who took pictures.

This is a white sheet cake (1/2 sheet) with a 6" in the corner. The Shower was ALL ABOUT DUCKY'S!! So what do you do but a ducky cake! The cake is iced with a whipped cream icing loosely frosted to look like foamy bubbles. The water is my first attempt at playing with sugar! After the sugar was rolling and temp at 300 degrees, I poured it onto a sheet of marble and shaped it to resemble water in a tub full of bubbles! All the bubbles are icing as well. The Ducks are actually CHOCOLATE! Found them at Target! Great find!

The shower was a thought that just kept coming..... you know those thoughts?? It is a dowel and a carved Styrofoam ball for the shower head all covered with fondant. The water is very thin wire with clear piping gel stuck to the wire and left alone to harden. The big bubbles (yes, on sticks that you can see through the bubbles), and the letters 'It's A Boy', are gum paste!

A Few Thoughts About the Cake!

Here are a couple cakes that were made just to be eaten!! Pretty doesn't always have to be fondant with decorations stuck in it!

Flavor is a VERY important part of EVERY cake.
Make it moist and Just Sweet enough!
Something that looks good to the eye, MUST taste better than it looks!!
So, we as cake decorators must always think on what happens
when the cake is cut and the first bites are taken!
VERY IMPORTANT!!

Fairy Tinkerbell Birthday Cake

It's a Tinkerbell Birthday
For Sweet little Mya!
(click on photos to see detail and flaws)I must say that this was REALLY fun!
The key to a cake like this is TAKE YOUR TIME and START EARLY!
This cake is CHOCOLATE, with Buttercream Frosting. One little surprise was that The filling was an M&M and Cookies & Cream candy bar!! YUMMY!
Gum paste items include: Tink, Stars, and flowers. I think what makes this one so fun is the swirls in the night sky! The cakes starts at the bottom in the daylight with the green grass, flowers growing and blue sky, turning to night, stars and TINKERBELL!
MYA is 4! Happy Birthday Mya!
(Thanks for letting me come to your party!)

Thanks again:)

Pink, for a baby girl!

This is a 6, 8, 10" cake.

Crumb iced with buttercream and covered with Fondant.

I used pearl and silver color with my Kopykake Airbrush! Mine is the Kroma-Jet style.

http://www.kopykake.com/ac_compressors.html

Oh I love that airbrush! It is very old! I have had it since 1980 and it is still going strong! Fondant takes spray color so well and dries fast.

I love the old fashioned Baby Buggy.
